PMS-post millennium syndrome is rampant. Post Millennium Syndrome is what I call a growing sense of disconnection, discontent, malaise that has invades our lives, relationships and work. It is a pernicious disease, a virulent virus of negativity that saps our energy and makes the shocks, the bumps and grinds we face in our work, our relationships and our lives that much work difficult to deal with. It also erodes the sense of accomplishment, achievement and happiness we feel in our lives and work.
Post Millennium Syndrome can occur without any specific trigger, because we are living in a world, a marketplace where negativity and fear sell. You just wake up one morning with a feeling of malaise. A feeling that you are living in a vortex of chaos, or alternatively caught somewhere between inertia, defeat or dis-engagement.
PMS erodes our sense of self, our sense of personal power and freedom. And, worst of all PMS makes us blind to our ability to live, lead and succeed to purpose;. PMS influences our emotions, our actions and our ability to lead from a place of strength, rather than from despair, disengagement, discouragement or inertia.
How can you combat PMS? Become a millennium contrarian—fight PMS by developing your 3Q’s. Build enhanced IQ. Start exploring new ways to build enhanced focus, intentionality and whole brain thinking. Expand your EQ. Learn about how you can start developing greater emotional mastery that will allow you to unleash your ability to inspire, engage and lead the best in yourself and others. Have the courage to embrace your SQ. Your spiritual quotient, the power within. The power of prayer, meditation any spiritual practice that will help you build a stronger alignment with your best self, your higher power while also helping you to tap into the enormous power of putting your brain in an alpha state.
And, remember what you think about grows. There are those speak about what they call the universal law of attraction; and neuropsychologists point to the fact that the only evidence our brain gathers into our conscious and subconscious mind is evidence that is important to us. Hence, what we focus on not only grows, but our mind begins to collect data to substantiate our thoughts.
Cultivate the art of appreciative inquiry. Start taking time each day to focus on what is right, focus on what is good, focus on the things you have to be grateful for. Build the strength of appreciative inquiry for a week, and then start using it to look at the problems and challenges you face with different eyes. Eyes that are not looking for self validation, eyes that are searching for solutions that will help you live, lead and succeed to purpose. Eyes that start to find the solutions in the challenges. Eyes that appreciate that in every situation there is a positive lesson that can be found and used. A lesson that will help you inoculate yourself against Post Millennium Syndrome.
